Long-Distance Relationship? How to Save on Phone Bill?

Written by

longdistanceloveMaintaining a long-distance relationship is never easy. My long-distance love affair with my wife began a few years ago when I became a senior business consultant and had to travel internationally on a regular basis. It went ok in the beginning but pretty soon my wife started complaining about not hearing from me often enough. So to compensate for those weeks that I’m not at home, I make it to a point to call her everyday, even if that means a couple of hundred dollars more on my phone bill.

And we both paid dearly. We tried the VoIP talk, but since she’s not really attached to computers, mobile roaming is an easier option. Surely enough, we’re constantly slammed by huge phone bills on both ends, and that also adds stress to our conversation. Communication was always a headache, until I became a consultant at OneSuite. OneSuite gave me an account that I can use to make international calls from abroad. It was when I realized, just how much I could have saved in the past. I could easily save ten dollars on an average call, by simply using a calling card international roaming service instead of mobile roaming. The difference in rates are huge, usually a dollar per minute. Just take a look at the comparison chart below to see what I mean:  tousarates

Since then, I was able to talk to my wife twice as much as before but still spend only a fraction of a cost compared with mobile roaming. Then the money I save is spent in duty-free shops where I buy her gifts. Now she can’t wait for me to go on a trip again!

thank you for sharing this. I have to make international calls all the time, mostly in west africa and france. Now I can save more money.
PS: your blog template is really nice. Great job putting all these stuffs together.
