Submit Your ATA Model, Let Us Help!

Since we published our blog article “Making VoIP Calls with Home Phone - ATA Configuration,” many readers emailed us with questions and inquiries about using their own ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) devices. Some readers have ATAs (Motorola, Linksys and D-link) from Vonage and ask if they are compatible with OneSuite, while some were looking for recommendations on which ATA works best with OneSuite’s broadband phone service.

Because it’s impossible to test all ATA brands and models in the market for OneSuite VoIP service, I thought I’d ask our readers to submit their wish list. All you need to do is to add your ATA brand/model on the comment box, and let us know which ATA you’d like us to test for compatibility. The top ATAs will be included on the test we’ll try to come up with a set of configuration settings on our blog.

Also in the light of new developments with OneSuite products and services, I’m starting an IT Knowledge Center (with the help of some OneSuite IT personnel) where our subscribers and future OneSuite users can ask questions about ATA configurations, softphone settings and even open-source IP PBX set-up. The useful and relevant questions will be answered and published on our future blog entries. This Knowledge Center also provides help in troubleshooting for any OneSuite VoIP-related issues.

    Is your SPA-2102 unlocked? If yes then you can use it with Onesuite as we have some customers using exactly the same ATA brand and model. Just follow the basic Onesuite VoIP settings you can find in this page http://blog.onesuite.com/?p=530

    Do you still having problems with your connection? Also when you say "the line will be muted after about 1 minute" do you mean dead air, line cut or one way audio?

    Thank you for helping us here.
    I have an InnoMedia MTA6328-2RE as well. I was able to make it work. But when I tried to make international call, the line will be muted after about 1 minute. My account name is bb8, you can see that there are a couple calls only last 1 or 2 minutes on my account. Can you help figuring out why? Thanks.

    By the way Michael, the InnoMedia MTA6328-2RE is the former SunRocket, then Teleblend device of choice. Needless to say, I've unlocked it as a start to the onesuite migration process.

    I am not familiar with your ATA device but if you can make a screenshot of the configuration page then that will help us in setting up your Onesuite account.

    You can also check the Grandstream article here http://blog.onesuite.com/?p=530 and try to put the same information in your Innomedia and see if it works.

    I have an InnoMedia MTA6328-2RTE.

    I'd like to know the configuration settings to make it work. The Granstream vocabulary doesn't always match and the user name settings don't allow a long user name / authenticate i.d. as far as I could tell.

    I've tested my Grandstream ATA a few times and it works normally after I shut down the softphone and reboot the ATA. Let me see if I can find anything on the configuration om my ATA and I'll get back to you again.

    Thanks for the reply. I understand the limitations on the simultaneous log ins. That is a cool feature if they can make it work. The problem I have is the even if I log out of the softphone and restart the ATA device a few times, the incoming calls will go to voicemail and never ring via the ATA device. The time out is quite a bit of time before the ATA device begins to ring again. Is there any suggestions you may have to speed that up?

    Hi Carlos,

    Sorry for the delayed response. OneSuite doesn't support simultaneous log in between ATA and a softphone. For some reason, only the ATA is affected of the simultaneous log in.

    You need to log out of softphone and restart your ATA device if you wish to use your ATA again.

    Hi Michael,

    The SPA2102/ATA seems to work fine until I enable a softphone on a PC. In such a case the softphone rings but the ATA device does not. It seems to disable incoming calls to the ATA device while the softphone is enabled and for a duration of time after shutting down the softphone.

    The configuration is very similar from one device to another. The important settings that you should check is the following:

    Preferred Vocoder (Codec): G711 ulaw
    SIP Registration: Yes.
    Send DTMF: via RTP (RFC2833)
    DTMF Payload Type: 101

    Please note that faxing through VoIP isn't reliable and its a hit and miss affair. I suggest you check out Onesuite https://www.onesuite.com/products_OneSuiteFax.asp" rel="nofollow">online fax service. It's only $2.95/month with unlimited incoming fax plus only 2.5c per outgoing page.

    I apologize for missing your comment and not replying soon. OneSuite username can not be changed nor replaced with account number or SuiteTreat code.

    You can though change your username by signing up for a new account and this time make your username shorter than 14 characters so the total will be 32 characters or less.

    You may request for balance transfer from your old account to a new account if you decide to get a new account. You may also get your old VoIP number and transfer it to your new account. Please call customer service at 1-866-4178483 for more details.

    I am using a Linksys SPA2102. Could you tell me what config is best with this model both for voice and data. I may need to send a fax via my computer or other device. It is a rare need but would like to do it once in a while.

    While probably not technically an ATA, I am using a Siemens Gigaset S675IP hybrid phone (fixed line + multiple SIP accounts). The one issue I came across is that this device limits the SIP username to 32 characters but my OneSuite VOIP username is 34 characters :-(
    Would it be possible to also allow "[Account Number]-voip.onesuite.com" or "[alphanumeric SuiteTreat String]-voip.onesuite.com" as VOIP user names as those should be positively identify the same account as well?
