OneSuite on Android Using CSipSimple

Written by

csip14I’ve found another good application for Android and its called CSipSimple. It’s another popular application for Android OS although not as popular as SIPDroid.  I’m writing this article so our readers and OneSuite users have an option when choosing which one to install. Based on my few test calls, I couldn’t find any difference between SIPDroid and CSipSimple. Quality is the same and call volume is similar, too.  Both can be integrated with your native dialer which means you can dial straight from your phone dialer and then choose between SIPDroid or CSipSimple if you want to make a SIP call.

CSipSimple though can record call conversation. Just press the record button and the call will be recorded in your SD card. This feature comes in handy especially when you need to record a specific conversation. Okay, without further ado here are the screenshots for setting up your SuiteAdvantage with CSipSimple on Android.

1. Go to Market and type in CSipSimple. Tap on CSipSimple below or click the search button on the right.

2. Click on CSipSimple.

3. Tap on Install button.

csip3

4. Click on OK.

csip4

5. Go to your application menu and look for CSipSimple and click on it.

csip5

6. Follow the instructions.

csip6

7. Click Next.

csip7

8. Choose what suits you best. I chose WiFi because I don’t want to pay for data services.

csip8

9. Click on Basic settings.

csip9

10. Go to each one of the settings and type in your SuiteAdvantage credentials.

  • Account name: any name you want
  • User: onesuiteusername-voip.onesuite.com
  • Server: voip.onesuite.com
  • Password: Softphone password (can be found in the long distance summary of your account)

csip10

11. Click on Save.

csip11

12. You should be able to see that you are registered; otherwise, go back and try it again.

csip12

13. You can now make your SIP call. You may call OneSuite support number at 1-866-417-8483 for testing.

csip13

14. You should see the additional features after you get connected.

Don’t use both CSipSimple and SIPDroid at the same time as you might experience registration errors.  I've also noticed that the mobile phone option to call someone was replaced by SIPDroid and CSipSimple; thus it’s tricky to make a phone call through your mobile phone provider when you are connected to the Internet. Your comments are welcome so feel free to add yours below.

You can use OneSuite VoIP features for calling out even if you don't have a SuiteAdvantage account. Make sure you've entered the correct configuration info (username, password and SIP server).

I got the message said: Error while registering - Forbidden.
Is it because I only register as a prepaid long distance?
