OneSuite - International Calls, Internet Fax, Call Forwarding User Tips

Here at OneSuite blog we continue to provide options for our customers. OneSuite VoIP service can be use with (via sofphone) or without a computer (through ATA device or IP phone). This is a new addition to my series of articles on free SIP softphones that are compatible with OneSuite VoIP service. MiaPhone is one of the easiest softphone I’ve installed and tried so far. Its interface is straightforward and very user friendly. I made my first call 5 minutes after I clicked the download button on MiaPhone’s website.

Not sure if most of your are aware of the fact that OneSuite's VoIP Service, SuiteAdvantage, not only support softphones or ATAs , as mentioned in one of Michael's article, but can also be used with most any IP phones. Recently, we had a customer requesting our help in configuring OneSuite VoIP service, SuiteAdvantage, on his newly purchased Snom 820 IP phone. So we are sharing the configuration setting screen shots below. Some default settings on the phone that require modifications are outlined in red. Hope this will also help all other IP phone users in configuring OneSuite SuiteAdvantage service on their VoIP phones.

Although I’ve posted articles about these softphone features and configuration instructions individually, I thought it would be a good idea to put them side by side for easy comparison. Hope this chart is helpful for our broadband access users and SuiteAdvantage subscribers, especially for those with different operating systems!

Have you heard about VoIP? Most of us have but there are still many of us have used it but not know about it. If you ever use the internet to have voice conversations then you’ve used VoIP. Last week I bumped into a college friend of mine who clearly is not too aware of this new technology so we had a quick chat about it.  I mentioned about using VoIP because my job requires me to travel and move a lot, and yet I managed to keep the same VoIP phone number in years. If I just stuck to a regular phone line, I might have lost touch with most of my friends.

If you're starting a home or small office, chances are you might be considering using a VoIP service rather than getting another analog phone line. One main drawback in making VoIP calls compared with regular landline is the quality of the connection. VoIP call quality and reliability depends on a number of factors.

For people who want to enjoy the benefits and low rates of VoIP calls, but are still attached to traditional phone sets, analog telephone adaptor (ATA) might be the answer for you. Imagine the convenience of making cheap VoIP calls anywhere without a computer, just by plugging the ATA in your router and phone set.

If you are like most people in the business world, then every day we race time to finish all the work and get our tasks done. One way of getting more time on our side is to properly manage it and take advantage of modern-day technology like Voicemail. I know I have. When I’m traveling away from home base, OneSuite’s SuiteAdvantage picks up all my messages.

Out of 20 or so softphones I’ve tested, I’m only recommending four that I consider keepers. Zoiper 2.0™ is the last but not the least. Don’t confuse Zoiper 2.0™ with Zoiper Communicator™ as the latter is a little bit complicated.  Zoiper 2.0™ is a simple softphone and perfect for computers with little memory on board, as it doesn’t hog resources like the other softphones.

Get your headphone ready and let’s continue with the softphone series. In my opinion, these free softphones offer similar standard features, but you get better quality on some and added features on others. There are four softphones that I would recommend downloading. Early this year I decided to try several free softphones that can be downloaded from the Internet for OneSuite VoIP service. OneSuite does offer a free softphone from SJ Labs™, but just in case you are interested in third-party softphones, here’s how to set up. Please keep in mind though, that OneSuite only provides support to OneSuite-labeled softphone.
