Last year I wrote about using Fring on Windows Mobile phones and lately we are getting requests on softphone options for other smartphones like iPhones, Androids and Symbians. Today I’d like to show you how to set up Onesuite VoIP service on Fring with iPhone or iPod Touch with screenshots. Not known to everyone, you just need an ear phone set with mic to use iPod Touch for VoIP calls. iPhone and iPod Touch are very similar except for the mobile phone functionality of the iPhone. Last year I reviewed three alternative free softphones for Onesuite VoIP service and Pangolin is one of them. PortSip made an improvement to its softphone and renamed it PortGo. Visually it looks the same albeit for the name change. Features-wise it stayed the same but I think it has less bugs and overall experience is improved.
PortGo is built based on PortSIP VoIP SDK, allowing users to enjoy multimedia communications in a dynamic way.

Out of 20 or so softphones I’ve tested, I’m only recommending four that I consider keepers. Zoiper 2.0™ is the last but not the least. Don’t confuse Zoiper 2.0™ with Zoiper Communicator™ as the latter is a little bit complicated. Zoiper 2.0™ is a simple softphone and perfect for computers with little memory on board, as it doesn’t hog resources like the other softphones. Read more…
